SurveyMethods provides two types of mailing lists – basic email lists and advanced email lists. Advanced email lists are lists of email addresses that include up to 5 custom fields, which are additional information attached to the email that can be used in customizing your email or message display, creating page logic, analyzing your data, and more. To create a new advanced email list, first go to the mailing list menu by clicking the “Mailing Lists” link on the main navigation bar.

Then click the Create New List button on the top right.

Choose “Create an advanced email list with email addresses and custom fields per email address” and click Create.

Enter a name for your email list and then either enter your email addresses and custom field values in the box below (one entry per line, separate custom fields with commas). If you prefer to import from Excel, click the Import from Excel button.

You can also rename the custom field titles by replacing “Custom Field1”, “Custom Field2”, etc. with a more descriptive title.

When you’re happy with your list, click Create. You will be returned to the Mailing List menu and your new list will now be shown along with the type, count of emails included and icons to manage your list.

You can use the icons on the right to view the list, import additional emails from Excel, edit the list, delete the list, or create a copy of the list.

Your new mailing list will now be available when you launch your survey by email or send out a newsletter.

Who Can Use This Feature?

Advanced Email Lists with custom fields are only available for Professional and Enterprise Accounts.
