SurveyMethods allows you to move surveys from one SurveyMethods account to another. This can be useful if you need to pass surveys between colleagues, or if another user wants to use your survey as a template you can make a copy of the survey and move the copy to the other user’s account, retaining the original with its response data.
To move one or more surveys to another account, first log in to your SurveyMethods account and then navigate to My Account by hovering over the icon at the top right and choosing My Account.
On the Profile tab, under Survey Management and Account Activity, click the link “Move Surveys to Other Account”.
You will be taken through a four-step process to move the surveys:
- Select survey or surveys to move.
- Review selected survey or surveys.
- Enter the target login ID.
- Confirm that you wish to move the survey or surveys.
Select Survey(s) to Move
On the first step you can choose a folder of surveys to display and then select the survey or surveys you wish to move by clicking the checkboxes on the left. You can select all of the surveys in the folder using the checkbox on the top bar.
Note that any surveys with the following features will not be eligible to be moved.
- If the survey has page logic or quotas with the action “Redirect to Another Survey”.
- If the survey is the destination survey of the “Redirect to Another Survey” action in a different survey.
- If the survey has been collaborated with one or more other users.
To move any of these surveys, you will need to change or delete the page logic actions, or remove any collaborations. Once those are removed you will be able to move the surveys.
Once you have selected the surveys you wish to move, click the Continue button.
Review Selected Survey(s)
The next page will display the survey or surveys you have selected. If the list is correct, click Continue, otherwise you can adjust which surveys are selected using the checkboxes and then continue.
Enter the Target Login ID
On step 3 you will enter the login ID for the SurveyMethods account to which you wish to move the surveys.
If you want to make sure it’s a valid login ID, click the Verify link to the right of the field. If the login ID you entered is a valid account, you will see a message confirming that the entered email is valid. Click Continue to proceed to the next step.
Confirm Survey Move
On the final step you will be prompted to choose which destination folder (in the destination SurveyMethods account) the surveys should be included with. Choose from the folder options in the dropdown and click the Move button.
Once the move is complete, a confirmation email will be sent both to your email as well as the email of the account to which the surveys were moved. The move cannot be undone unless the destination account moves the surveys back to your account.
Moving Surveys Between Accounts with Different Subscription Types
Any survey can be moved from an account with any package type to an account with any other package type (e.g. Professional users can move surveys to users with an Advanced or Basic package type). However, if the survey contains features not available on the new user’s subscription (e.g. page logic or custom fields), the new user will not be able to launch the survey until those features are removed. If the survey is live when it is moved, it will remain open until a respondent attempts to reach the survey using the survey link. At that point the survey will be closed and the survey owner will be notified by email. Certain features (such as graphical styles or automated reminders) will simply be disabled and the survey will remain live.
